Trim Healthy Mama

If you ever want to check out the THM site please use my personal link, so I get your referral.  It is the following: https://store.trimhealthymama.com/#_l_5k
I know a lot of people have showed interest in learning more about Trim Healthy Mama (THM)!  I wanted to give you a quick rundown on things that I have changed in my life since I started doing this new way of eating!

First off back in January 2015, I started increasing my steps to 15,000 per day!  We started eating more super foods.  I also cut out coffee creamer and started using Stevia to sweeten it.  I started off using Stevia in the Raw and Pure Via Stevia as a replacement for sugar.  I later learned once I got my THM book that Truvia is a better replacement and THM products are by far the best in my opinion!  Now I use all THM products as they are reasonably priced compared to other brands.

February 18, 2015 I received my THM book and started to educate myself!  I started off, as I was reading, just experimenting with the different recipes as they came up in the book.  The book has a huge cookbook inside of it with lots of great recipes along with helpful hints.  I have added a few things into our diet that we never have used before!

The rule of the THM book states "Never include amounts of both fats and carbs in the same meal unless you are trying to gain or maintain weight.  In other words, don't tandem fuel!"

There are S (Satisfying) and E (Energizing) meals.  S meals are to include fats with very little to no carbs.  A great example would be meat with vegetables and any of the berry fruits!  E meals include eating your healthy carbs with very low-fat items.  One of my favorite E meals is the THM pancakes topped with greek yogurt, berries and sugar-free blueberry syrup or Overnight Oats with berries.  There are so many options for both S and E meals and snacks in the book.  The key is not to mix fats and carbs!

S-helpers can be used once you are making progress with your weight loss!  That is adding a little more carb to your S-meal.  Just a warning if you are still trying to lose weight only do this occasionally, as it will keep you from losing weight.  If you are at your weight goal, this is fine to do a couple times per week.

Crossover meals are when you mix carbs with fats and no weight loss will occur while doing this.  The book states, "The concept behind the Crossover meal is to enjoy carbs in the quantities we suggest for E meals (not to high, but enough to gain energy) along with more liberal amounts of good fats in the S category."  These should be saved for once you are at your ideal weight and then doing them 20% of the time.

Fuel Pull meals are the final kind of meal to learn about!  Fuel pull meals help you to shed excess weight as you eat them, they contain very little to no carbs or fat!  My favorite Fuel Pull meal is the Big Boy Smoothie with protein whey!

The book has so much more great information in it, I would highly suggest reading it.  I have learned so much from Serene and Pearl.

Around the beginning of March 2015 I tried my best as I was still reading/learning to incorporate THM into my life full-time.  The pounds have been falling off since I started everything back in December with becoming more active and as I have been learning to eat better for my family and myself!

This was my very first order that I received on March 12th, 2015!!!

Here are some things that I have changed:
  • I switch throughout the day between S & E meals depending on what I want.
  • I leave 3 hours between S & E meals.
  • I no longer drink milk as it contains a lot of sugar, I now use Vanilla Unsweetened Almond milk or Unsweetened Flax Milk.
  • I no longer eat potatoes or most root vegetable for that matter.
  • I no longer eat most breads/rice unless they are plan approved.
  • I no longer drink juice or soda, I didn't do this to much anyway, so this was easy for me!
  • I no longer have adult beverages such as beer and wine.
  • The following is on hand at all times at my house:
    • THM Pure Stevia
    • THM Sweet Blend Stevia
    • THM Protein Whey
    • Glucomannan (THM now carries this on their site!)
    • Coconut oil
    • Butter
    • Bacon
    • Cheese
    • Eggs
    • Old Fashion Oats
    • Cottage cheese
    • Flaxseed
    • Almond Flour
    • Coconut Flour
    • Flaxseed meal
    • Greek yogurt
    • Salmon
    • Bragg Liquid Aminos
    • Nutritional Yeast
    • Dreamfield Noodles
    • Quinoa
    • All berries (Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, & Blackberries) I get them all frozen unless they are in season!
    • Nuts/seeds
This was my most recent THM purchase, along with another Protein Whey, a large bag of Pure Stevia, and another Sweet Blend just to have on hand.
My weight loss accomplishments!!!  I am officially at my weight goal of 30 pounds lighter and three to four pant sizes smaller!!!

  • December 2014-January 2015 down 4 pounds
  • January 2015-February 2015 down 3 pounds
  • February 2015-March 2015 down 5 pounds
  • March 2015-April 2015 down 6 pounds
  • April 2015- May 2015 down 7 pounds
  • May 2015-June 2015 down 2 pounds
  • June 2015-July 2015 down 3 pounds at weight loss goal!!!
I hope this helps!!!  Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try my best to answer them for you as I am still in the learning process myself.  I love this new way of eating and I will eat like this the rest of my life as I feel so much better about myself!!!  I will update this as I think of more!!!

P.S. I would highly suggest checking out the success stories on their facebook page!!! https://www.facebook.com/TrimHealthyMama?fref=ts

Homemade Laundry Soap with Thieves Cleaner!!!

So here it is my new homemade laundry soap and I really like!!!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup of Washing Soda
  • 1/2 Cup of 20 Mule Team Borax
  • Only 1/3 of a bar of Fels Naptha soap grated.
  • 3 capfuls of Thieves Cleaner
  • Water
Directions:
  • Start by melting the grated Fels Naptha soap in 3 cups of water on medium heat at a simmer until completely melted.  Do not let this boil or it will bubble over!
  • Once that's completely melted, add the Borax and Washing Soda until they are dissolved, just about a minute or two.
  •  Then add the melted soap mixture to your 5 gallon bucket filled with 3 gallons of water.
  • Add your Thieves Cleaner.
  • Stir it up really good and then let it sit for 24 hours.
  • After the 24 hours, your soap will be set up a little bit.  Stir it again really good and then pour into your choice of container.  I use old detergent containers!!!
  • Use about as much as you would with a store bought soap, about a capful.

Coconut Oil uses in our daily lives!!!!

In January we started using coconut oil in our daily lives!!!  We now have a jar in the kitchen, one in each bathroom and one in the van!!!  When choosing your coconut oil look for key words such as USDA Organic, Virgin, Unrefined, and if possible Non-GMO.  What do we use it for?  Lots of things, but there are so many more uses for it!  Here are some of the uses our family uses it for:
  • For applying Young Living essential oils.
  • As a lotion, works great after shaving and on elbows and knees!
  • It works great on feet by itself!
  • Cooking
  • As a popcorn oil, one of my kids favorite snacks!
  • Add to smoothies.
  • Mixed with Chia seed for an energy boost!
  • Use to season skillets.
  • Ingredient for making lip balm.
  • Also as a natural lip balm by itself!
  • Ingredient for making deodorant.
  • Ingredient for making lotion bars.
  • Ingredient for making natural cough drops
  • Ingredient for making sunscreen.
  • Oil pulling (rinsing your mouth with coconut oil and brushing right after)
  • As a natural sunscreen (SPF 4)
  • Treatment for eczema.
  • Coconut Oil inside the nose to help with allergy symptoms.
  • Eye make up remover.
  • There is much, much more, but this is some of the things we are using it for in our home!

Garmin vivofit my start to a new year!!!

I upgraded to a Vivofit 3 in December 2017 and love it just as much as my first one!
This device has helped me over the past month to stay more active!  It is a Garmin vivofit tracker, it learns your activity level and assigns a personalized daily goal, it also displays steps, calories, distance, and monitors sleep. If you are sitting to long it turns red and reminds me that I need to get active. Since I started wearing it a month ago I have completed all my steps for the day everyday.  My step goal on my vivofit tracker has changed from just under 8,000 steps per day to over 12,000 steps per day over the past month. If you have any questions about it please let me know!

Update:  Now that I have been using it for over five months I have increased my step count to over 15,000 steps per day, it is a great motivation for me!!!

Introduction about myself!!!

I wanted to give you a little rundown about myself.  I am a military wife to an amazing husband!  I am stay at home mom to three amazing kiddos!  I have been a steady runner for the past four years! I love being outside with my family if we are playing a sport, going for a walk, biking, hiking, playing in the snow or what ever it may be.  We all just love being outside!!!  I have never really cared about what I eat, but I didn't eat terrible either.  If anything was low fat or sugar-free I wasn't going to have any part of it.  I have decided that this would be the year for me to do some research and find things that are better for both myself and my family.  I am taking it one step at a time and I want to share our journey with all of you!

Here we are in 2020!!!
